Is this the same as therapy?
The Sovereign Self is a structured, six-month programme with a clear framework and a set number of sessions, led by a qualified psychotherapist. It's different from open-ended weekly therapy. If, on our introductory call, ongoing therapy looks like a better fit for you right now, I'll tell you.
What happens on the introductory call?
It's free, takes about 45 minutes and there's no obligation. We talk about where you are, what you want to change, and whether the Sovereign Self, therapy or something else would serve you best.
Where do the sessions take place?
All sessions are online, so you can join from anywhere.
What if I need longer at one stage?
The framework is a guide. If you need more space between sessions to let something settle, we agree that together. If you need extra sessions beyond the sixteen, we'll talk that through first.
Am I tied in? What if I want to stop?
You're not asked to sign a contract and you're never forced to stay. If you decide to leave, that's your decision. If you've paid in full, any months you haven't started are refunded. If you're paying monthly, your payments simply stop. The six months run from your first session, and a month you've started counts as used.
Is WhatsApp support for emergencies?
No. Check-ins aren't monitored around the clock and aren't a crisis service. If you're in crisis, call 999 or go to A&E, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option, or call Samaritans free on 116 123.
